Indonesia’s Chilata Floating Photovoltaic Power Generation Project Achieves Full Capacity Grid-connected Power Generation

On the morning of November 9, the full-capacity grid-connected power generation ceremony of Indonesia's Chilata floating photovoltaic power generation project was held in Purwakarta. Indonesian President Joko attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

The Chilata Floating Photovoltaic Power Project is the first floating photovoltaic project in Indonesia and the largest floating photovoltaic project in Southeast Asia, with a total installed capacity of 192 MW. It is developed by a joint venture between Indonesian Electric Power Company and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company. This project was selected as a key national strategic policy project in Indonesia, which is an important milestone for Indonesia to develop clean energy and achieve energy transformation.

The completion of this project will help Indonesia realize its power infrastructure acceleration plan. After the project is put into commercial operation, the annual power generation capacity is expected to reach 300,000 megawatt hours, which can provide clean electricity to about 50,000 households. The project is expected to save 117,000 tons of standard coal for the local area every year, and reduce carbon dioxide, coal dust, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides by 214,000 tons, 82,000 tons, 9,000 tons, and 4,500 tons each year respectively.

This project will not only enhance the power supply capacity of the Java-Bali power system, but also improve the local energy structure. It will help the Indonesian government achieve its goal of increasing the proportion of renewable energy and is of important strategic significance to Indonesia's goal of achieving carbon neutrality.

During the construction of the project, more than 8,000 direct and indirect jobs were created for the local area, which effectively improved local employment and social welfare levels and promoted regional economic development.
